Leadership Development for Women of Color

Leadership ability has no relationship to skin pigmentation or cultural background. However, African-American, Latina, Asian and Native American women continue to face stereotypes that affect interactions with peers, subordinates and senior leaders. These women of color are more likely to be excluded from formal networks, lack mentors and have fewer opportunities for high-visibility assignments. Consequently, women of color remain under-represented in corporate executive ranks.

Companies may successfully recruit women of color, then watch them pass through a revolving door. Typical diversity initiatives do not address the unique racial and gender-based challenges faced by women of color.

VJ Holcomb Associates, Inc. has pioneered leadership development for women of color in corporate environments. Our approach combines a structured methodology with individual coaching and allows women to soar on new wings of competence and confidence. Each engagement is customized, but a program typically involves a peer group of 8 to 20 women over a period of 12 months.
